Event Description : DANCE : Manasa Art Without Frontiers presents Monodhama Dance Festival
Manasa-Art Without Frontiers works to facilitate the intersections between visual and performing arts, both traditional and contemporary, to acquaint a younger generation and the general public with the harmonious rich cultural heritage of India and provide kal-ke-kalakars with training and platforms to develop and share their artistic expression. Manasa-Art Without Frontiers was founded by Sharon Lowen with Kamalini Dutt and Naresh Kapuria.

Bharatanatyam By Vidushi Lakshmi Vishwanathan, senior exponent of the Tanjore tradition of Bharatanatyam who’s spontaneous improvisations display her originality in unfolding of visual poetry

Screening of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra monodhama films
Followed by presentations by renowned classical dancers on their approach to monodhama interpretation and elaboration of text
Speakers include: Vidushi Saswati Sen; Guru Lakshmi Vishwanathan; Guru Singhajit Singh and Charu Singh; and Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan
Guru Kamalini Dutt and Sharon Lowen will speak on Pedagogy of Teaching Monodhama to Today’s Students

Kathak By Pt. Birju Maharaj, the undisputed master of Kathak, torch bearer of the Kalka-Bindadin gharana of Lucknow. A wonderful poet, musician, and singer of thumri, dadra, bhajan and ghazals, he has applied his nuanced abhinaya on non-mythological and social issues as well as classical mythology and spirituality
