This ‘Rang Maha Kumbh’, the confluence of theatre, which started in the year 1999 and has now assumed an international character, cherishes a creative rich history in itself, in which not only Indian but also the global theatre cultures from across the world has been brought together on a single platform with the experience of one earth one family. The audience also gets the opportunity to directly interact with intercultural theatre discourse, in which along with the classicism of ancient drama, the most modern theatre movements as well as a rich world of diverse folk and traditional theatre varieties are presented to the theatre lovers.

BRM 2026 will feature several sub-festivals and events, such as:

Adirang Mahotsav – Tribal theatre, dance, and crafts
Jashne Bachpan – Children’s theatre
Bal Sangam – Folk performances by children
Poorvottar Natya Samaroh – North-Eastern theatre

Women in Theatre
This edition celebrates women’s contribution with 33 productions directed by women. The Theatre Bazaar will showcase newly written plays, with selected works awarded and published. 17 books will also be launched under the ‘Shruti’ initiative.

Cultural and Culinary Experiences
BRM 2026 is not just about theatre. Special counters will showcase India’s diverse food, handicrafts, and cultural heritage, making the festival a complete cultural experience.

Background: The National School of Drama is one of the best Theatre institutes in the world, and the only one of its kind in India and Asia, which has played a major role in Theatre training as well as in the Indian Theatre movement. An important part of this Theatre movement is ‘Bharat Rang Mahotsav’, which is today considered as one of the biggest Theatre festivals in the world, in which there is a holistic confluence of Indian as well as global Theatre cultures.
