Event Description : Ruchika Theatre Group presents Gathered Leaves, English Play.

Synopsis:

Most young people see their fathers as being difficult and almost tyrannical, and many parents perceive their kids as being rebellious or as losers. What happens over a weekend in an affluent Delhi household when the patriarch invites all nine members of his three generation family to celebrate his 75th birthday?
By turn dramatic and comic, poignant and provocative, this play questions borders and boundaries, acceptance and rejection, roles and expectations, forgiving and forgetting...with a cast from ages 16 to 60.
‘When you can talk about the characters by name afterwards, as if they are people you have actually met, that tells me the play has really mattered’, is how Andrew Keatley, the playwright describes his writing. Trained as an actor, he turned to playwriting recently, with his highly acclaimed ensemble piece The Gathered Leaves and Alligators, in which he explores the kangaroo court of modern media.
