Event Description : American Center New Delhi, in partnership with USIEF, invites you to “Vanishing Mysteries: Magical Connections Between India and America,” a talk and performance on Indian magic by Fulbright Scholar, Shreeyash Palshikar. The art of magic has a long history in Indian culture, and has shaped the popular imagination of India as a "land of magic." American magicians have visited India searching for magic for centuries, and Indian magicians have performed in the US as well. Traditional and modern magic are still performed in India today. This lecture/performance explores the history and culture of Indian magic and the ways that magic connects India and the US. In addition to speaking on Indian magic, Shreeyash will perform some magic routines and a local magician will also perform.
