Chair: Smt Neera Kashyap
Colonised by several European powers, especially the British and the French, India had much to offer its colonisers. But did its colonisers also feel they learnt a lot from the Indians? How do they see India and its citizens now? From the 18th century, several French travellers have written a lot about India, some true, some imaginary. Many of these travellers’ perceptions have found their way into French graphic novels. The talk will analyse how these ideas have evolved over the years in post-colonial India
