1st December :

 Andarkahini[Self-exile] (Bengali/2017/86mins) Dir. Arnab Kumar Middya. 
Four women. Four variations of relationships. Four women protagonists from four different stories played by one woman only. Keeping one actress common for all the four characters symbolises the very aspect of womanhood as a metaphor to the dark, hidden aspects of relationships and its complexities.

2nd December : 

7:00pm : The Frozen Fire (Sri Lanka/2018/160mins) Dir. AnuruddhaJayasinghe. 
The first Sri Lankan entry in the mainstream 'Best Picture' category of Oscars 2019. A group of prisoners are released in November 1977 after six years of incarceration. They were among the leaders arrested, put on trial and condemned to life imprisonment for their role in the failed insurrection in April1971. The rebels decide to enter mainstream politics, which becomes a dangerous and bloody game.

NASA announces the discovery of a new planet in the solar system, Emanon, where life might exist. Working part-time at a travel agency, Mika is doing her Master's degree in theoretical physics. She hasn't been able to get over her boyfriend who disappeared five years ago. One day, Mika suddenly experiences déjà vu and meets a version of herself. Emanon might have caused the parallel world to intertwine.

Thorati is a folk drama based on a real incident that occurred in the early 1980s. Based on the lifestyle of shepherds in rural Tamil Nadu, the film revolves around Nallya and his family and how drought and famine leads to unexpected twists in their lives.

In 1924, Stalin launched the Great Purge anda large number of intellectuals were forced to flee to the Chinese border. During World War II, a great number of Soviet men were killed in battles and many girls had to marry Chinese men at the Chinese border. And with Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution, they were accused as spies, tortured for confession and many died under tragic circumstances.

7:00 pm : No. 1 Chung Ying Express (Hong Kong/2018/118mins) Dir. Derek Chiu Sung-Kee. 
Grand Prix at the Osaka Asian Film Festival. Set up as a mirror with the same actors playing different characters in the 1967 Hong Kong Leftist Riots when they confronted the British administration and 2014 after they faced similar challenges in the “umbrella movement” against China’s erosion of their political freedoms.
