Event Description : MUSIC FILM : Purcell’s chamber opera "Dido and Aeneas" English Film Screening

A video recording of a contemporary production starring Sarah Connolly and Lucas Meachem as the eponymous characters from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden featuring the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Conductor: Christopher Hogwood. It recounts the love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, for the Trojan hero Aeneas, and her despair when he abandons her. Sunit Tandon introduces this landmark work in the history of baroque opera.
