Event Description : "Viaan" A festival promoting inclusion and equity for the disabled.

VIAAN (Vibhavari Illuminating Action and Abilities to Nurture Persons with Disabilities) is India's first Holistic festival which focuses on bringing together the diverse population, cultures and abilities, with the sole aim of creating a society which is AWARE, SENSITIVE and provides equal opportunities to the differently abled (Persons with Disabilities) by not just accepting and motivating them but by also being a productive part in the development and betterment of skills, making them active economic agents, reaping the benefits of self-employment and jobs.
The enrichment and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is one of the key elements
into making a society INCLUSIVE and successful as it taps into all its potentials and brings
out the best. The first step towards achieving this is AWARENESS and EQUAL
OPPORTUNITIES.

SHANKARA’s (A Unit of Sri SharadaPeetham, Sringeri) vision is to create a society which is empathetic towards the persons with disabled and does not shrink from giving them an opportunity to create a niche for themselves and walk with their heads held high.
 A campaign creating awareness, acceptance leading to meaningful opportunities
in INCLUSION;
 A platform to provide EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES for seeking out their talents;
 To explore new arenas of EMPLOYMENT for persons with disability;
 To come up with customized DESIGNS in attire, shoes, learning systems keeping
in mind the special needs, requirements and comforts of disabled;
 To provide the youth opportunities to explore new avenues of SKILL
DEVELOPMENT which would be beneficial for the development of disabled; and
 To bring out various waning CULTURAL HERITAGE as new avenues of
employment for the disabled.
