About the Festival – KalaKrita
KalaKrita is a celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage, bringing together the brilliance of young talents in dance and music. This year, the festival presents a soulful Carnatic vocal concert by Smt. Geetha Rajendran and her disciples, along with the premiere of Praphulla, a Bharatanatyam production by Smt. Meera Sreeraj and her disciples.

About the Production - Praphulla
Praphulla, meaning bloomed, radiant, or awakened, is a contemplative production inspired by the timeless wisdom of Gautama Buddha. Designed for the modern soul, it delves into the nature of human suffering, its roots, and the path to liberation—not as an abstract philosophy, but as a living, breathing journey of inner transformation.
Rooted in evocative storytelling, Praphulla draws from the rich worlds of the Jataka and Panchatantra tales—stories brimming with insight and metaphor. These timeless narratives make the production accessible to children, engaging for families, and deeply thought-provoking for all ages.
Praphulla reveals the subtle truths of the human experience:
* How we perceive the world through the lens of our own mind
* How perception shapes our suffering
* How awareness can restore peace
