Event Description: “2nd World Santoor Day” organised by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts).

“22nd June” was announced and celebrated as the first ‘World Santoor Day’ last year in 2024 by the artist and the creative arts fraternity and many prominent cultural organizations of the country together with SaMaPa like legendary Sh. AR Rahman, Sh. Anup Jalota, Sh. Kailash Kher, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Vidushi Sumitra Guha, Sh. Siddharth Kak and others. This occasion marks the Birth Anniversary of the Great Saint - Musician, the Legendary Santoor Maestro & Composer late Pt. Bhajan Sopori ji, who was hailed as the “Saint of Santoor” & “King of Strings”.

The World Santoor Day is playing a pivotal role in highlighting the rich cultural heritage and historical significance of Kashmir and also the Kashmiri Santoor, the Shatatantri Veena, emphasizing its deep roots in the Kashmir Shaivism culture. By bringing international attention to the Santoor's unique history and its integral role in Kashmiri tradition, the ‘World Santoor Day’ fosters a greater appreciation and understanding of this exquisite instrument and the cultural philosophies it embodies, promoting cultural diversity and unity through music.

Simultaneously, the World Santoor Day is also being held on 22nd June evening in various parts of India like Odisha, Kashmir, etc and across the globe like China, USA, Argentina, Colombia, etc.
