In protest against forced conversion to Islam, the Ceddo (the outsiders) kidnap King Demba War\'s daughter Princess Dior Yacine and hold her hostage. 

Ceddo is an ambitious, multilayered epic that explores the combustible interstices among ancient tradition, religious colonization, political opportunism, and individual freedom (Janus Films) by Sembène, often called the \"father of African film\".
