Event Description: An exhibition of charcoal sketches of Tigers and watercolour florals by Charumati Nirwan
Charumati is an alumnus of MGD School, Jaipur and Lady Shriram College, New Delhi. She holds a PhD in Psychology. She has been a keen painter since childhood. Nature has been her inspiration and she has always enjoyed painting flowers and birds in watercolour.
She was drawn to the hypnotic beauty of tigers after visits to the Ranthambore National Park. Long hours spent in forests have given her a unique understanding of tigers in the wild. Interaction with the artists at the Ranthambore Foundation and motivation from renowned conservationists shifted her focus to the big cat. Over the last 25 years, she has developed her own style of charcoal drawings and has continually experimented with other media and subjects. Her work shows many facets of the life of tigers in their natural habitat. Her objective is to create awareness about how poor we will be without these majestic creatures guarding our wilderness and the need to protect our forests.
Her works have been exhibited at the India International Centre, Lalit Kala Akademi, Arpana Art Gallery & The Lalit in Delhi and at Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur.
