Event Description: Vayam Performing Arts Society presents Vaar Satrah Baar, Hindi Play
Synopsis: 17 is the number of times Krishna fought with Jarasandh in Mahabharat. Lord Buddha confronted evil Mara 17 times before attaining nirvana. Prithvi Raj Chauhan and Mohammad Ghori fought 17 battles. The battle of Mahabharat happened for primarily 17 days where on the 17th day Pandavas killed Karan (the last commander of Kauravas) to ensure their victory. There are 17 main chapters in Geeta that talk of karma as a way to salvation, where in 18th tells about complete surrender to God. Humayun spent around 17 years in jungles before winning over his kingdom back from Islam Suri. Maharana Pratap after losing to Maan Singh and Akbar spent the rest of his life fighting back his kingdom which is roughly around 17 years. In the game of chess, if the king is the only survivor left, he gets 16 steps to save himself and if he succeeds he gets impunity.

The crux of this lies in the 16 wars that have to be made before reaching the 17th War.
Vaar satrah baar (The seventeenth war) is a play in poetry order which revolves around the life of a king who has lost 16 wars like many other real kings and is preparing for the 17th war. How will it be different?
Filled with elements of war psychology, filled with un-dogged motivation, it is one hour of gripping conspiracy, thrill and entertainment that keeps the viewer intact.
Based on the book Vaar Satrah Baar written by Kunal Hriday, the play is directed by Alakshendra Prabhakar.
About the group: Vayam Performing Arts Society is an independent performing arts group based in Delhi and is registered under Societies Regulations Act, 1860. Run by an ideal blend of actors, directors, writers, educationists, technicians and working professionals, the society has a stronghold in the Delhi Theatre Circuit and an emerging base in Mumbai.
