The Mumbai etching diaries

A moment in the Journeys of a Print Maker from Mumbai

Gazing through the parallax… a solo show of etchings, Mezzo-tint, drypoint and Cyanotype by Susmita Sharma, gives a glimpse of everyday life, the daily commutes, and the visual dialogue with shared spaces in time while living the Mumbai life. She explores the multiple existences of people and events while they are on their journeys. The moments that hold in themselves a multi-perspective, a dichotomic realm, have been her subject of inquiry that she shares by her presence in those moments with those in co-existence.

The mundane commutes in public transport have been the subject of her visual documentation.
She decodes her wandering gaze, which records patterns, and the ever-mundane events, like invisible spaces, materials, and people most overlooked take center stage.
