About Turbulence
———————————————————
The truth hidden
It appears so still
Serene and tranquil
The surface undisturbed
Eternally calm
A shimmering sheet of gold

A pebble falls
A feather drops
An event unnoticed
Unexpected and sudden
Breaks the surface
Stirs the calm

It brings to sight
The turbulence within
It  finds the angels
And releases the demons
It hurls out not just the dust
But also the diamonds
Because

Turbulence is Existence.

About the Artist:
--------------------
Growing up in the far-reaches of the Himalayas, Shafali Anand found a close friend & confidante in her sketchbook, and they’ve been inseparable since. In the last two decades, her work has been published internationally in The American Spectator, The Suit Magazine, Talk Business and Politics, and other publications. Her art is in private collections in India and abroad and has also been acquired by organisations around the globe, including the Clinton Presidential Library at Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.

About the Collection:
---------------------------
TURBULENCE is a collection of about 30 oil paintings and more than a dozen Pen and Ink Works that the artist has created over the past 5 years. These works are born as fully formed images in the artist’s mind, which she then transfers to the canvas working furiously for days on end. These paintings, devoid of symbols that depict a place of time, stretch to find the limits of emotions as they are felt and endured.

About the Tribute to French Artists:
—————————————————
In the artist’s words:

"It’s been my pleasure and privilege to study the works of the French Masters and learn from them. I am a great admirer of the works of the French Artists who became the pioneers of modern art and changed the definition of art. Among those I regard the most are Degas, Monet, Cézanne, and Matisse. These four artists risked everything to break the existing rules and to augment and change the definition of art. Their artistic legacy confirms my artistic convictions and gives me the courage to stay true to my art.”

I’ve been smitten by the grace and animation of Edgar Degas’ works, I’ve found heartache, poignancy, deliberation, and a quest for perfection in Claude Monet’s impressionist paintings, I’ve experienced shock and awe as I was hit by the colorfulness of Matisse’s expression, And I’ve struggled under the pent up stress of Paul Cézanne’s careful but bold strokes.”
