Event Description: IHC Theatre Festival 2022
Its ‘Curtains Up’ for the IHC Theatre Festival 2022, carrying onwards the legacy of
Theatre at Habitat that has been a leitmotif for over two decades.
This year's Playbill is bigger than ever - ' A Play A Day' lineup that brings an eclectic selection of Pan Indian Theatre. A mix of classics, translations, adaptations, and original devised scripts, that showcase significant strands of theatre practice from across the country.
A spectrum that reflects diversity and commonality. Self-expression that draws on shared histories and compelling socio-political realities.
The first Theatre Festival post the pandemic, it brings together the creative energies, experience and learnings of artistes who return to the stage after a two-year forced hiatus.
Sunit Tandon, Director IHC, shares; “I am delighted that after a two-year hiatus, the stage is coming alive once again and we are back with a selection of critically acclaimed theatre productions from different parts of the country, curated with passion and love by the Programmes Division of the India Habitat Centre.”
Ms. Vidyun Singh, Creative Head, Programmes adds; “We are delighted to return with our first post-pandemic theatre festival and bring back the energy of physical theatre. Capturing the diversity, vibrancy, and rigour of contemporary theatre practitioners from outside the Capital city.”
An opportunity to once again enjoy the joy of sharing a physical space with them and with fellow audience members as they take us through a journey of human experiences and emotions. Performances ranging from solos to ensemble large cast productions weaving tales of reality and dreams, of love and loss, of conflict and resolution, of humanity and hope.
The lineup this year has something for all ages …from toddlers and children to adults. In addition to the performances, the festival has screenings, workshops and discussions that provide useful pointers for early career actors and arts professionals.
