Anushtup Live in Concert
On 23rd March, 1931, three revolutionary freedom fighters laid down their lives for freedom, equality and justice. #BhagatSingh, #Rajguru and #Sukhdev were fighting not only for freedom from the British colonialism but from all kinds of exploitation, oppression and injustice. They emphasized that their struggle is not just against colonial oppression but against all forms of oppression and exploitation of man by man. Each of us knows that common working masses in our country and as well as elsewhere in the world are facing indescribable exploitation, violence and oppression at the hands of the stooges of capital and imperialism. The dream of our martyrs is yet to be fulfilled. The revolution that they envisaged is yet to be won. In this unfinished project, art has a cardinal role to play. It is the duty of progressive art and music to give voice to the oppressed and exploited; however, we firmly believe that the duty of progressive music only starts with this. Revolutionary music must also become, to borrow from #Bertolt_Brecht, "the hammer with which to shape the world."
We are a band dedicated to the cause of the working class. We will be singing songs of revolution, of resistance against injustice, of truth, of pain, of remembrance and of beauty on the evening of November 29, 2019, dedicated to the memory of our glorious revolutionary martyrs.
Needless to say, 'Anushtup' does not take any institutional grant from any corporate, funding agency, NGOs, government, or any bourgeois electoral party. We sustain our efforts solely on the support that we get from common workers, students, progressive intellectuals and citizens.
