Event Description : Quilt India Foundation presents "Threads that Bind" A Travel exhibit of 18 Award winning quilts from India Quilt Festival 2019

Quilt India Foundation, founded in 2018 by quilter-friends Tina Katwal, Deepa Vasudevan and Varsha Sundararajan, was born out of a strong passion for quilting and a desire to revive quilting and other textile art traditions in India.
The Vision of the Foundation includes: • Revival of Quilting in India • Promoting Quilting as an art form and a commercially viable craft • Providing a common platform for Quilters in India • Bringing Indian Quilting to the International Scene . Bringing suppliers of Quilting and Sewing related items closer to the buyers
To further these aims, Quilt India Foundation organized the country's first ever international India Quilt Festival in January 2019 and the major highlights were:
• 290 competition quilts competing in 5 categories for 28 awards from 11 countries • Special exhibit "Quilts Across Time and Nations" comprising vintage and Modern Quilts
from India, USA, Germany, Guatemala, Scotland, UAE, South Korea and Hungary . 'Artisans Showcase' with 6 traditional textile artisans from India and overseas . 9 workshops, 2 lectures and multiple textile tours .22 Stalls selling Fabric, Quilts, Machines, Notions, Quilted articles.
Quilt India Foundation aims to revive India's rich tradition of quilting. The revival of the art form happens when it is adapted and practiced by more and more artists and recognized as a commercially viable pursuit. The intention is to develop an entire ecosystem in India so that it is easier for more and more people to learn, adapt, experiment, practice and contribute to the evolution of the art form. "'Threads that bind" is a travelling exhibit featuring award winning quilts from India Quilt Festival 2019 which aims to bring this art form closer to people in different parts of India.
