Event Description : Time Bound: An Idea of Swaraj and Collectiveness 2018-19
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s seminal anti-imperialist text Hind Swaraj (1909), the artist Shelly Jyoti examines elements of Gandhi’s critique of modern civilization, observing his emphasis on an evolved ethical and spiritual self for creating an alternative perspective of a better world. The exhibition includes textile site specific installations titled The Print: Hind Swaraj 6 x 9 feet; new Ajrakh artwork on khadi; and a short documentary mapping Ajrakh traditions in contemporary art and craft Making of Swaraj and Collectiveness 2018-19
