Event Description : WORKSHOP : Waste Time: A 3-part workshop series | #2: Landfill Visit.
Have you ever wondered where the plastic wrapping of your favourite chips ends up? To find out, you may have to climb a mountain!
For the second workshop of the Waste Time series, we are going to visit Ghazipur landfill, Delhi’s oldest and tallest landfill (it is now almost the height of the Qutab Minar!). Along the way, we will understand how our waste travels from dustbin to dump, and how this process is affecting the environment. Like any mountain, the landfill plays host to birds and animals who live there, and whose lives are being negatively affected by every wrapper, polythene bag and straw that we casually discard. Along with animal experts at BNHS Delhi, we will explore the lives of these animals and how we can help them, and our environment.
Introducing our 3-weekend workshop series “Waste Time”, an exploration of waste-free living for children! On three consecutive Saturdays we will be conducting immersive workshops themed around waste - for your child to understand how they can live an environment-positive life! Together, we will explore waste segregation and management through sustainable farming, follow our waste to a landfill and enjoy a day of creative upcycling! Your child will have the opportunity to interact with environmental experts from our partner organisations and be part of a unique experience to grow a greener future!
