Event Description : FILM "Mucking up the Mediterranean" in English

As part of 'Films on Wildlife and Environment' Series.

Only 300 Monk Seals, it is estimated, are now left in the Mediterranean Sea. This gradual disappearance of the monk seal is not only an indicator of a species going extinct but also of the degradation of the Mediterranean Sea. Over-development, fishing, relentless dumping of industrial waste and sewage have turned the sea into a breeding ground for diseases. The prospect of cleaning up also looks grim.
