Event Description : ART EXHIBITION : Gallery Art & Soul presents "Roaring Sea. Still Mind" solo show by artist Satish Gupta presenting paintings, Sculptures, Zen Calligraphy , Haikus and revelations.

An evening along the beach in Normady, France where artist Claude Monet painted... a tumultuous sea and a mind deep in meditation oblivious to the danger around. This unique experience is what prompted poet, author and artist Satish Gupta to create the artworks for his upcoming exhibition ‘Roaring Sea - Still Mind’ at Visual Arts Gallery, Indian Habitat Center, presented by Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai.
With the city celebrating art with India Art fair, this collateral show will begin on the 19th of January, 2019 and will be on till the 3rd of February, 2019. Curated by Astrid Narguet, International Department  Director, Asia Arts Center, Beijing, China, the 15 day exhibition will also feature the book launch of ZEN WHISPERS, the book by the artist, and an interactive dance piece by Padamshree awardee Odissi Dancer Ramli Ibrahim from Malaysia on the opening day.
The landmark exhibition will feature 13 sculptures,10 collages, 15 large paintings and about 125 drawings and calligraphic works with haikus covering both the galleries.
The different sections of the space will feature some of his most astounding works both kinetic and stationery including the magnificent ‘Conference of the Birds’, ‘ The Cosmic Wave’ and ‘The Wings of Eternity’. More than an exhibition this show will be a journey through varied landscapes, minds and thought processes.
The stormy sea and the roaring waves become the metaphor for the chaotic state of our world today where we are governed by insensitive people who are drunk with power and indifferent  to the rapidly deteriorating environment. Instead of fretting and shifting blame, each of us has to think deeply with calm mind and realize that we are all responsible for this state and find ways to make this world a better place in whatever way we individually can.
Much like his work, this exhibition is an artwork in itself touching upon the artist’s deep engagement with mysticism and Zen spirit. The artworks are inspired by the artist’s travels to Mauritius, Normandy, Toulouse and Switzerland. After absorbing the experience, distilling it and expressing it, the artworks thus created are a bold interpretation of his thoughts. Working with a wide range of artistic techniques and mediums the artist is influenced by the theory of the five elements, a recurring theme in his work: fire, water, metal, wood and earth. He carries us away in a flurry of colour, form, material, words, and brushstrokes, materializing timelessness in a flood of sensations; the splendor of the universe takes form and overwhelms us in an ecstasy outside of time and space.
“Creating these artworks has been an enriching and almost a spiritual experience! While doing my artworks I am deeply in touch with my inner self and with the Divine. It is tremendously liberating.
Earlier my sculptures were solid and rooted like my Buddha sculpture, I now feel that even though they weigh a substantial amount there is a feeling of lightness like in the Cosmic Wave sculpture and they almost seem ready to take off on a flight like The Wings of Eternity.
It is this tryst with ZEN that I wish to bring forth with this exhibit!”, shares the artist Satish Gupta.
