Event Description : ART EXHIBITION "Celebrations" solo show of Abstract Art by artist Alita Chandra Wig
The uninitiated may assume Abstract Art as random splashing of color, devoid of any intellectual content or meaning. This would be very simplistic view of art. A painting or drawing provides a two dimensional canvas to the artist, inherently limiting his/her creative expression. The artist facing these limitations devises unique symbolism, play of colors, shapes and lines to give fuller expression to his/her complex creative instincts. The resulting artwork is unique and has no resemblance to visual reality.
"We are living in an age of rapid change and chaos. I get my artistic inspiration from her interaction with the outside world. This stimulus is very complex in today’s day and age. My emotional and intellectual reactions to such stimuli finally reflect on my paper. I represents this chaos on the paper but adds a lyrical flow, depicting order in the chaos" says artist Alita Chandra Wig
Alita’s artworks are a riot of color. There is bubbling youthful energy and freedom of conception visible on each artwork. As one proceeds from one artwork to the next, one finds explosive passions on one extreme and serene flow of love in the next. This delightful flow of emotions is a celebration of life in every respect.
A very common query from viewers is how to interpret Abstract Art. The artwork is an attempt by the artist to communicate with the viewer. When the viewer spontaneously reacts to an artwork with the superlatives like “wow”, “beautiful”, “excellent” etc., he appreciates the aesthetic appeal of the artwork. It means that the artist has managed to establish communication with the viewer. Thereafter, the artwork would affect each viewer in a different way based on personal life-experience and personality of each individual viewer. In this second step if the artwork strikes a chord with the viewer and triggers his imagination, the dialogue between the artist and his viewer is complete. The capacity of art to resonate with the soul of the viewer is the ultimate aim of fine art.
