About the play: In a country that has existed for more than 50 years without an army, Greta has a dream that keeps her as a fiercely as virginity: to become a soldier-woman. In order to make it real she secretly performs to desperate attempt: she wants to be accepted into the "Civil Guard". The police chief, Ramon, apparently listens to her and understands her. But he is a rather corrupt man. The young girl is overwhelmed by an orgy of words that make her believe in the man's true interest, and she trusts him. Nevertheless, Ramon takes her by force, as in a ritual sacrifice. Will these roots of a "happy past that have produced unhappy people" bring Greta in the end to be crushed by the memory of a lost and sincere time? Only at the end of the performance the conclusion has an unexpected outcome, that of a revolution. The revolution of 'the different', the last possibility to resist, albeit unnecessarily, to the barbarism that is approaching. Greta then pays for her lost dream of becoming a soldier and without complaining she says farewell to herself and to what she has lost along the way, with a deep wound in her heart.
About the theatre company: The performing arts group DOO – Divano Occidentale Orientale was born in January 2010 by Giuseppe L. Bonifati. Linda Sugataghy (HU) joined in 2013. DOO´s artistic project started in Italy and in the North of Europe (Denmark), and especially from the will to create and produce contemporary art through a deep research, offering it to youth and adults. DOO- it’s a wide-ranging project, a continuous journey of contamination across geographical borders. Since the beginning our main concern is one: how to deal through arts with the unconscious and the unknown. In 8 years of existence the group has produced a line of diverse works: Ammaliata (2009), Cala ‘a Saudage (2010), Pepè El Bastardo Impaziente e Innamorato (2011), Maiden in Costa Rica (2012), ivetotellusomething, (2012) Qui-es-tu? Tu me tues; Maren og Jeg; The Judgement, Outdoor Sin (2014), Shame; Above the Skin (2015); Mayor in Residence (2016/2017); Kommandopost (2016); Declarations of Beauty (2017); Art As Defence; Pro Domo Tua; There is No More Cake (2018); Art on Call; The Guardian; The Last Blow; Desideria (2019).
About the director: Giuseppe L. Bonifati was born in 1985. He’s an actor, playwright, poet and theatre director.
He’s based in Denmark and Hungary. He attended the acting courses at “Paolo Grassi” Civic School of Dramatic Art. He furthered his studies at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts “Silvio D’Amico” and at the International Theatre Workshops by Venice Biennale. He’s Artist/Director in Residence at Odin Teatret – Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (Holstebro, Denmark), theatre with which collaborates since 2008. He participated in other program of residencies in Europe and America. He met also in his artistic formation Rodrigo Garcia (as Director Assistant), Antonin Milenin, Abani Biswas, Maurizio Scaparro, Enzo Moscato, Marcello Magni, Vincenzo Pirrotta, Giuliano Scabia, among others. He completed studies on the Method “Stanislavkj-Strasberg” with acting coaches and members of the Actors Studio as Beatrice Bracco, Michael Margotta, Francesca De Sapio. As actor, he took part in plays directed by Eugenio Barba, Julia Varley, Motus, Renato Carpentieri, Remondi & Caporossi, Ruggero Cappuccio, Andrée Ruth Shammah, Roberto Cavosi, Emanuela Giordano, Giuseppe Maradei. He was awarded with the Crystal Microphone “Umberto Benedetto, 2006, RAI, New voices for radio (Jury: Giovanni Antonucci, Claudia Cannella, Gabriele Parenti, Nicola Cariglia). In 2011 he won the National Dramaturgy Award “Alessandro
Fersen” and he has been chosen among the Young National Talents by Ministry of Youth – Italy. He has been granted in 2015 with DE.MO./MOVIN’UP, by MIBACT Italian Culture Ministry/GAI. He took part as actor and pedagogue in the large scale European projects Caravan (2013) and Caravan NEXT (2016-2017). Since 2010 he is the artistic director of the performing arts group DOO – Divano Occidentale Orientale. He has conceived and
directed all the works produced by the group, traveling to Italy, Denmark, Costa Rica, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia Erzegovina, Venezuela, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Iran, Croatia, France, Brazil , Spain etc. He founded in 2016 the artistic movement KUNSTPARTIET/ART PARTY in Holstebro (Denmark). Here he directs with Linda Sugataghy (Hungary) the “Bomhuset – Museum for Miniature Art”. Their performance MAYOR IN RESIDENCE is the longest
performance ever made by a couple of artists (535 days). For the poetry he published Ritratto all’Ombra (2004) and 21:31 (mi sento morire), 2014 by Lietocolle Publisher. The text “Pepe El Bastardo Impaziente e Innamorato” appeared in the theatrical series Percorsi by Editoria&Spettacolo publishing house.
