Event Description : TALK "To See or Not To See" by Ana Lamata

As part of The Park’s New Festival 2018

Ana Lamata, Ph.D. in Contemporary Art History, has largely focused her research on the
resonances between art and science. To See or Not to See is a reflection on how, at the
beginning of the 20th century, the discovery of X-rays changed the way the world was perceived and the notion of reality itself. Today, when new technologies are challenging again our conceptions of reality, art can play a vital role in decoding these discoveries, questioning conventions and just helping us see.

Background : The Park Hotels, pioneers of luxury boutique hotels in India, and Prakriti
Foundation brings a bouquet of commendable performing arts across music, dance, comedy and dramatic theatre with The Park’s New Festival 2018. To be held across 6 cities over a period of almost a month, this is the 12 th edition of this annual cultural rendezvous.
To be held across six cities – Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad, The Park’s New Festival will kick start from 30 th Aug in Chennai and will culminate on 21 st September, 2018 in Hyderabad.

Sharing his excitement, Ranvir Shah, Founder, Prakriti Foundation said, “It has been a fantastic journey for us with THE Park Hotels where we have been able to bring new exciting works in the fields of contemporary dance, music and theatre. For the 12 th edition of The Park’s New Festival, we have a great line up of artists -Karthick Iyer from South India presenting fusion Carnatic Music; Stories by Hand - a contemporary twist to Bharatnatyam by Preeti Vasudevan; Rajiv Rajaram & Utsav Chakraborty presenting a stand up comedy; and A talk by Ana Lamata who joins us from Spain to speak reflection, realism and how discovery of X-rays changed the way the world was perceived and the notion of reality itself.”
