Event Description : HEALTH : The Merchant Of Madness Festival Of Madness (MM)
The Merchant Of Madness Festival Of Madness (MM) is a collaborative effort between two independent mental health initiatives — Bhor Foundation, Delhi, and The Red Door, Pune — to bring Project MM to the city of Delhi.
MM is a way to express, share and co-exist with that madness through art and performance. Their first process started when The Red Door (TRD) & Orchestrated Q’works collaborated last year for the ‘Voices of Madness’ project at Gyaan Adab, Pune. MM is built on a script, first published in an academic journal by Reshma Valliappan (founder of TRD) that examines psychosis, schizophrenia and the underlying consciousness of the voices in the head.
MM has grown from that to a vision that will, through a public Festival of Madness, spark a discourse to challenge how we understand and relate to mental illness. By bringing in different individuals from various fields (including those who have received mental health services and those who have not) to relate and speak openly about their experiences with madness, depression, anxiety, mental health, we hope to normalize and reclaim the term “madness’. The objective is to advocate for the universality of the term Madness to being positive, without stigmatizing those who receive mental health services. Experiential exercises, will allow a stepping into each other’s realities to create empathy.
Over the course of these 2 days, many interesting events will be organised such as:
1ST September
- Panel Discussion on What is the Trauma Informed Approach & How can we Truly Heal?
- Art Workshop on
- Coffee over a presentation on
- Film Screening: A drop of Sunshine
- The Listening Circle and Lessons from the Day
