Event Description : THEATRE “The Corpse of Mr. Garcia” by Jardiel de Poncela
As part of 'Music and Performing Arts' Series.

About the play: “The Corpse of Mr. García” is a farce with detonations in three acts, one of the first works of a brilliant author, Enrique Jardiel Poncela, whose birth centenary we celebrate this year. A combination of humor with surreal tints and an incipient touch of absurdity come together in this work. We witness a comedy of privileged society discovering a corpse in their living room in the middle of the night. Who is it? How did it get there? What
should everyone do next? Jardiel approaches almost as if he’s writing a police thriller, and also anticipates what would later become the popular game of Cluedo, but the filter of his imagination gives him that personal nuance so recognizable in all his works. Today, the characters and situations of this comedy, despite belonging to the past, still are tremendously close and recognizable, without doubt make up a picturesque picture of an era that has left a huge mark on our culture. A crazy comedy full of original blows of humour.
