Event Description : FILM FEST : Whatashort Independent International Film Festival

Synopsis: The 4th edition of Whatashort Independent International Film Festival will take place this year at Instituto Cervantes. Started to keep young & independent filmmakers in focus. Last year more than 400 films participated this year from over 34 countries and more than 45 films will be screened this year. Whatashort is an online platform to submit your creativity if you’re a filmmaker and enjoy those creations if you’re a viewer. Whatashort is devoted to provide short films a platform to realize their true worth. The festival’s goal is to achieve a status, at par with feature films, for short films and to create a marketing platform for all the filmmakers. Currently home for more than 700 short films in different genres from more than 52 countries, Whatashort aims to make this platform global and reachable to every budding and established filmmaker. In this edition two short films in Spanish have been selected:

“Ainhoa” by Iván Sainz Pardo (Spain). Ainhoa is 9 years old and she has left home, bringing only her school bag and a Playmobil. "Ainhoa is a story that, instead of trying to put children to sleep, tries to wake up the adults."

“Never again brothers” by Eleonora Gasparotto Nascimben (México). Since 2006 over 32000 Mexican have disappeared. During the civil war over 90000 people were killed. A complex situation between protests and repressions. Anyone is forced to live in a reality full of unreasonable violence where the protagonists are the government, the Narcos Cartels and the citizens. There are some people who run away, ignore and who are silent. On the other side some people rebel and don't want to forget. A fragmented country that lives in terror while it's seeking the truth and the freedom of its people for a different future.
