Event Description : DANCE : Manch Pravesh of Niharika Prakash, disciple of Ranjana Gauhar.
Niharika, daughter of Smita and Sharat Prakash, was introduced to the world of Odissi by her Guru Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar at the tender age of seven. Since then, Odissi has remained an ingredient crucial to Niharika’s growth. The steady guidance from her Guru has shaped Niharika into a passionate dancer who has, with each passing year, strengthened her bond with the dance form. Now an eleventh-grade student at the Modern School,
Barakhamba Road, Niharika views dance as integral to her life her Guru’s dance studio as an extension of home.
This dedicated pupil knows there is no substitute for hard work and recognizes the artistry as well as wisdom her dance training instilled in her. “There’s no substitute for hard work in the quest for learning. Dance has taught me to multitask, prioritize, set goals, focus, and persist,” she reflects. Through Utsav’s dance troupe, Niharika has showcased her craft at multiple prestigious events, including the Konark Dance Festival, the Khajuraho Dance
Festival, Sangeet Natak Akademy (Imphal and Delhi), Kurukshetra Mahotsav, and in Spain and Argentina. In 2015, Niharika received the National Scholarship for Odissi Dance (CCRT) from the Ministry of Culture – Government of India.
