Music has no boundaries nor it discriminates anyone. On the upcoming World Music Day on June 21, Philtre – The Bistro will be honouring a specially-abled musician, DJ Sameer, by hosting him for a live performance.
The thing that really stands out about DJ Sameer, also known as Kuljit Das, is that he is self-taught. Hailing from Nagaon, a small town in Assam, Sameer, has always been passionate about music since childhood. After passing his tenth in 2012, and learning the skills on his own, Sameer soon became a sensation in the nearby towns. However in 2014 misfortune struck him and he lost his eyesight as he was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Retina Pigmentation. With no money to buy a DJ console at home as his father was a pump mechanic in a small firm, the strong-will powered Sameer didn’t give up and decided to follow his dream. In 2015, he won the State DJ Championship and in 2016 at a DJ War event held at IIT Guwahati, he got a chance to participate, wherein DJ Sushen, founder of Skratch DJ Academy, who was judging the show, invited him to his academy in Delhi and signed him to promote his talent all across the globe. Today Sameer, a self-made man, is popular for his unmatched skills.
