Event Description : WORKSHOP 'Painting Birds in Watercolors' by Richa Kedia
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
This workshop will equip you will all the basic skills required to start creating your masterpieces in watercolor! During the workshop, topics covered will be:
- Get acquainted with the medium and paper used
- Explore various techniques of watercolor painting: Wet on Wet and glazing
- Techniques like salt, splatter etc for creative backgrounds
- Painting your own bird in watercolor!!
ABOUT THE MEDIUM:
Watercolor is a unique and challenging medium. It is the only transparent medium and no white paint is used while painting. Water and paper play very important role in the painting. But trust me if you get the hand of it, watercolors become a very addictive medium.
PS: In school, we painted with poster colors and not watercolors, as per the common misconception and they are completely different in usage and application.
WHY BIRDS?
The detail on feathers and the various colors make bird a very interesting subject to paint. Also as a muse, birds are fascinating as they show up everywhere in our busy lives and kind of tell us that there is still hope and all is not lost.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Richa Kedia is a self-taught artist, illustrator, muralist and graphic designer. She is a Chemical Engineer by qualification but an artist by passion and now her profession. She has worked in various reputed corporates, while painting over the weekends. But then she finally realized that she wanted to do something more meaningful all days a week and not just the weekends. So she finally quit her corporate job to pursue art full time. “Build a life you don't need a vacation from.”
So now, along with various freelance projects in art, wall painting and design, she also conducts art workshops from time to time. She is well-traveled, well-read and has a penchant and curiosity for nature, science and history, thereby rendering multiple dimensions to her art. She also loves to experiment with different mediums and styles.
