Event Description : EXHIBITION "India and the World: A History in Nine Stories" is a landmark collaboration between National Museum, New Delhi, the British Museum, London and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) Mumbai. Supported by the Tata Trusts and the Getty Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Newton Bhaba Fund, this project coincides with the celebrations of 70 years of Indian Independence and the year of major cultural exchange between India and the UK.
India and the World showcases some of the most important objects and works of art from the Indian subcontinent in dialogue with iconic pieces from the collection of the British Museum. The exhibition brings together over 200 objects from the world collections of the British Museum, London; CSMVS, Mumbai; and National Museum, New Delhi and from around 20 museums and private collections across India.
The exhibition highlights the strong connections India has shared historically with the rest of the world promoting an exchange of ideas and influences that have helped create a global culture.
