5th June : SEED: The Untold Story (English/2015/84mins) Dirs. Taggart Siegel, Jon Betz. The film follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food.
6th June : Water - Abundance by Common Sense (Short film/Hindi/2017/10mins) Dir. Anil Yadav. The film shows how millions of cubic feet of rain and ground water is stored as a byproduct while making a railway line. This unique example of innovative water resource in the village of Kalhar is being considered as the best example of water conservation. Followed by screening of Sundarbans: Rising Water, Ebbing Life(English/Bengali/2017/47mins) Dir. Dheeraj Sarthak. The film follows the life of Badal Chandra Mandal whose migration to Sagar Dweep began 35 years ago. Struggling to stay above the water is a day-to-day contest for millions in the Sunderbans coupled with nature and man-made disasters.
