Event Description : DANCE DRAMA "S/he" Multilingual Play by Ilhaam Collective.
An Old World Culture Presentation.

Taking off from the story of Arjun and Chitrangada, based on Rabindranath Tagore’s dance drama Chitra, this performance looks at the journey that a woman takes, to find herself. It examines whether Chitrangada’s choice to change into an "effeminate" woman, gentle and beautiful, from being a "masculine" warrior princess, was her own, or was a result of societal conditioning. A Dance Theatre piece, the performance uses elements from Odissi, Manipuri, Rabindrik and Contemporary Western dance and explores the question of agency that a woman has over her body.
