“Sakubai” is based on a Marathi woman’s story which takes you to the journey of her whole life using broom in her hand to wipe out all the negativities in life.Shakuntala aka sakubai is the eldest daughter of Laxmi and Tukaram Jamde.Like others Shakuntala and her mother left their village and re-located to Mumbai in search of work and money.She sweeps, swabs, washes, cooks, takes care of children, pets and looks after elderly..Sakubai sings, dances,cries gushes and impersonates different persons around her to reflect the double standards of urban society.This drama also focuses on evil deeds like child labour,child sexual abuse,and illiteracy and tries to remove all of it and make it a better place.
This solo drama is performed by Monika Misra an Indian Television and theatre actress Monika is active in theatre and media since 2006. Apart plays she has also worked in many TV serials and films.She was most recently seen as a TV Reporter in Akshay Kumar starrer film "Toilet ek prem katha".
