Event Description : MUSIC : Jazz Lab with Rohan Ganguli Trio

The music is wherever it takes you. This is the maxim the trio sets out to achieve whenever they perform. Like any good conversation between people, the nature of the music changes course according to every change within its interacting members. This results in multiple perspectives. That is what the trio aims to achieve through the compositions.

Rohan: has been a professional guitarist/musician for close to 20 years. He has traveled the country with his band The Supersonics and played at every respectable venue and festival. He has released 2 albums with the band (Maby Baking, HMV Saregama and Heads Up, Red Bull) He plays with Big Family, a blues band based in Kolkata for the last 4 years. He has a self-titled solo project with which he has been traveling across the country. This project is collaboration based and has just completed a national tour with the Foxtrot tour. He performed in a quartet ensemble in Blue Frog Bangalore, Khar Anti-social Mumbai, The Piano Man Jazz Club Delhi and Phoenix Kolkata playing all original music. The Foxtrot Project has 3 of his compositions currently. He is an Official Fender and Ernie Ball artist.

Aniruddh: is a jazz drummer, songwriter and vocalist from Kolkata. He is a student of the Swarnabhoomy Academy of music. He has a natural penchant towards jazz and blues. Ofer Ganor, the Israeli jazz guitarist said of him, ‘I have met Mr. Saha when I was teaching at S.A.M in India. I was taken by his natural approach to playing jazz. His creativity and musicality were on a high level and he showed great sensitivity and understanding to this music. Mr. Saha has the true spirit of Jazz and gives a great feeling of swing”. He has been playing professionally for over 3 years in the Kolkata jazz and blues circuit. He operates mainly as a freelance/sessions musician and plays in an experimental, free jazz band called Abhind.

Pierre: started his musical journey at the age of five with the flute in Western Classical Music as a primary instrument. At the age of fourteen he shifted to his present instrument, Electric Bass Guitar. After training in Western Classical Music he decided to study Latin music & jazz harmony. He continued his studies by playing with various musicians in different styles of music. He believes that music cannot be reduced to itself in order to understand it and transcribe it into reality and that One has to know more to see deeper to truly develop the art of sound. His passion for abolishing borders between art forms enabled him to create music for one -concert, visual arts, live performance acts and bands.
