Event Description : Indian Revival Group celebrates 70 years and invites you to view a dance theatre ‘Ek Tha Raja’, The exemplary story of a Prince of Gujarat. The story of Gopaldas known as Darbar Saheb, the beloved and just ruler of principalities in Saurashtra. A story about the life and times of a leader of absolute honesty and pure patriotism. This is a tribute to all the remarkable individuals, who lived and struggled for a free and more just India.
About Gopaldas known as Darbar Saheb :
- The unusual tale of an exceptional Raja
- A great son of Gujarat
- A forgotten hero of India who led a remarkable life
- An active and courageous participant in the struggle for India’s freedom and for social justice.
- He gave up his princely life when he joined the freedom movement.
- He Fearlessly proclaimed Swaraj
- He remained cheerful when deprived of his possessions and proud while receiving penalties for his political stands
- A Tyagmurti, He was selfless.
- He was devoted to help others achieve greatness
- He strived for social equality
- In a period when women were neglected n oppressed, he protected women’s rights and endeavoured for women’s education.
Indian Revival Group is a premier dance ensemble of India celebrating 70 years, founded by Shri Yog Sunder Desai, a distinguished Choreographer who ranks amongst the pioneers and has been honoured by Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his lifetime contribution to the field of Dance. The Group has performed 5000 shows and conducted 250 tours through the length and the breadth of the country and has represented the country many times abroad as an official cultural delegation. Recently the Group toured France and performed at the Festival of India in Morocco and Italy. The Group had the honour of performing for the first Prime Minister and President of India. The Group is currently led by Papiha Desai, a multitalented dancer and choreographer who has created a remarkable body of choreographic work in the last 2 decades, which has been performed and presented globally. The Group is dedicated to the cause of furthering the rich multi-cultural heritage, mythology, philosophy and Glory of India.
