About the Speakers:
Dr. Rekha Datta is professor of political science at Monmouth University in New Jersey and currently she is a visiting professor with the School of Government & Public Policy at O.P. Jindal Global University . She received her PhD in political science from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Datta’s Fulbright-Nehru project is based on field visits in Haryana and explores how NGOs focusing on women’s empowerment interface with local culture and global governance norms and policies, and whether they raise women’s ability to combat gender-based violence.
Ms. Yashvi Sharma is a Program Officer with PRIA (Participatory Research in Asia). Established in 1982, PRIA is a global center for research and training, based in New Delhi. PRIA has field offices in eight states and linkages with 3000 NGOs to deliver its programs on the ground. PRIA’s work is focused on empowerment of the excluded through capacity building, knowledge building and policy advocacy.
