Event Description : EXHIBITION "Green Ambience" solo show of paintings by Vimal Chand
Concept Note and about art work -"Green Ambience" by Vimal Chand
Calm and serene are two adjectives that well define Vimal’s Landscape obsession; Green Ambience. Green Ambience by Vimal Chand is the artistic representation of his integral love with nature on the canvas inspired by memory and experience of his childhood (and his experience of myriad encounters with nature within and outside the country). His nature paintings are not only one of the most expressive works but are images which, for many, act like the footprints of the inner workings and the turmoil of the author’s soul. As a child, Vimal always had shared a strong bond with nature and used to gets inclined towards different elements of it. He used to spend most of his boyhood days wandering around the trails of Jahan Panah City Forest, where he developed a contiguous bond with the flora around. At a very early stage, Vimal could feel connected with the colourful palette of nature and that is why his work is a remembrance of what he felt at that moment of time.
Nature became a predominant part of the Vimal’s life and there he developed a bond so inseparable. To commune with nature, seemed to him like communing with the divinity. Vimal’s connection with the nature was so deep and intense that can be seen through his work. A closer look at Vimal’s acrylic paintings shows a variety of moods expressed through soft colors against some strong and warm ones. Sometimes the impasto pushes the onlooker into the landscape or at times it allows them to feel the rough thorny textured surfaces of his trees via. his own journey of life. The keekar trees beautifully extend their crooked branches entwining the thoughts to clutch all entity..the bushes on the meandering paths tells one that the way is not clear but there is a dim view definitely! It has both, the pricks and softness of flowers; mud and the soft greens that are quite dense inside. Investigating the shifting nature of light and the perception of pure color, his paintings defined the Impressionistic style. Vimal Chand is one of many Impressionist who promoted the direct contact to nature and used it to develop new trends in painting. The colors that the artist has used for the highlight suggests an uneasy feeling that is pleasing as well as power driven simultaneously. The soft breeze may appear to possess a power to become quite rough, often with a small opening of sky saying almost nothing at all. Vimal’s paintings are based mainly on the fundamental elements of this environment such as Air, Water, Soil, Vegetation etc. If one sees his paintings closely, one can feel the freshness of breeze; the coolness of water and can enter the dense forest walking through the narrow pathways. In today’s era where the idea of a green environment is just a misconception, Vimal’s paintings give a soothing effect to the visualizer. Vimal’s paintings are an impression of that nature, which we humans have degraded long back and which our ancestors conserved. Through his paintings, one can make out the beauty that has now been lost amidst civilization.
