Event Description : "Art Exchanges between Japan and India" Illustrated Lecture by Dr. Anu Jindal

The lecture will reflect on Japan-India ties strengthened through art exchanges. Both countries have an ancient and rich artistic and philosophical heritage. Buddhism formed the foundation, while in more recent times Okakura Kakuzo and Rabindranath Tagore created strong cultural bonds. Both Japanese and Indian aesthetics are based on deep profundity of philosophical expression beyond the surface image. In modern times, many art events have been held in both countries, these will be discussed, as well as what the future holds

The talk is part of  “2017 The year of Japan-India Friendly Exchanges” endorsed by Embassy of Japan in India
