Habitat Film Appreciation Series.
The Silences of the Palace uses a Third world feminist perspective to reflect on the histories of Tunisia and of Tunisian women. The film is a lush creation of colour, fluid camera movements, and deploys poetry and music to reflect empathetically on Tunisian history, gender politics, time and meaning at a crucial historical conjuncture.
