Event Description : Nemi Nidhi and Natarang Pratishthan, the theatre resource centre and archives, are organizing Nemichandra Jain Memorial Lecture 2017, in memory of Shri Nemichandra Jain, the eminent theatre critic and poet as well as founder editor of Hindi theatre quarterly Natarang and founder director Natarang Pratishthan.

The eminent social thinker Shri Shiv Visvanathan will deliver the memorial lecture –   ‘A Special Kind of Democracy: Marxism, Language and Science’.  
Marxism as social science, as politics, as a style was full of possibilities. The emphasis so far has been more on the party and on its theory of class. It was also a theory of culture which analysed science, literature, language and popular culture. This lecture is a small exploration and a tribute to this world.
