 As part of 'Music Appreciation Promotion' Series. 

Amrit Srinivasan is a former professor of sociology/social anthropology at IIT Delhi, whose early work on the devadasis and the politics of the dance at Cambridge University has been extended by her recently to cover woman’s' performance in general, under the aegis of The Ministry of Culture's, Tagore National Fellowship for Cultural Research Award (2015-2017)

The talk examines women performers in life and in art to critique the intrusion of morality into the formation of aesthetic sensibility and 'classical' musical taste in modern India
