Event Description : Nashist- Tribute to Balraj Sahni An evening of readings from Balraj Sahni's work, followed by a discussion on his role as a writer, broadcaster and actor. Artistes of Impresario Asia will also present songs from Sahni’s formidable repertoire.

Nashist featuring "Tu Pyaar Ka Sagar Hai' a tribute to veteran scholar, writer, actor and an activist BALRAJ SAHNI.  Balraj Ji being one of the very rare artistes in Indian film industry who was intellectually involved with things higher than a mere box office hit, a mere applause at the end of a play.

The purpose of Nashist about such iconic artistes is to go beyond the glamour attached to a film actor....an actor is a person, a thinking person, a person who chooses a difficult profession, not because he does not know what to do but because he wants to communicate, he wants to express himself, he wants to tell the society that there is life beyond the mundane.

To discuss this, to highlight the artist behind the star, we shall make an earnest effort to communicate with an audience who may or may not be familiar with this unique artist.

A gifted theater and film actor, a writer, an activist and a humanitarian, Balraj Sahni needs no introduction. From short stories writing, to his iconic address to students of JNU; his time at Shantiniketan under Gurudev Rabinder Nath Tagore; at Sewagram, Wardha under the Mahatma and his four years with BBC London during the war years - a couple of hours is not sufficient to cover the complete spectrum of Balraj ji's contribution, though we will do our humble attempt to cover all aspects of this magnetic personality.
