Event Description : Alliance Française de Delhi presents "Yama" a contemporary dance show.

This piece is inspired by the Buddhist philosophy around yoga and by choreographer Laura Arend’s travel in India. YAMA is a Sanskrit word. It signifies self-control, austerity, restrain, moral duty.
As opposed to this thought, this piece opens on a sombre world, a reflection of the shortcomings of daily life, of the loss of what is essential. It explores our reality as a mirror of our society, of our ways of life; our selfishness that is particularly capable of making us and others suffer; our capacity to judge and ignore the views of others; our need to own that makes us dream everyday about what we cannot obtain, and this despite the bitterness that it evokes. 
This piece is a journey, an exploration that is more inclined towards self-liberation. Here, dance is an amazing answer; an extraordinary vector of freedom, fulfilment, therapy and simply of happiness.
