Event Description : EXHIBITION : Alliance Francaise de Delhi in collaboration with Muktangan presents "Shape (Art for Social Action)" Art for Social Action.

S H A P E 
"SHAPE” is a culmination of the project that was initiated in early 2016, by Probir Gupta, visual artist and activist, as a part of his long time pursuit and commitment towards Art for Social Action. He has been engaged in numerous projects sensitizing young adults concerning child labour, trafficking, domestic violence, adoption amongst many others since 1996.
The main objective of this project is to train children from underprivileged backgrounds, run away kids and those socially excluded, to make every day utilitarian objects in pottery (Ceramics) in a program aiming at Skill for Sustenance.
The unconditional support of Mike Knowles, FRSA Director Sushant School of Design, Ansal University, gave life to “SHAPE”- Art For Social Action. His magical studio-“The Hidden Gallery” transformed itself into a space of creations for these children.
The products created by a group of children from SPID, Salaam Balak Trust and Udayan care, during these workshops are being launched in Romain Rolland Gallery of Alliance Française de Delhi through this exhibition.

Some of the renowned contemporary artists from the Indian art fraternity have generously come forward in support and have shown solidarity with these children and this initiative. H.G. Arunkumar, Bharti Kher, Deepali Daroz, Ela Mukherjee, Kristine Michael, Ravi Agarwal, Reyaz Badruddin, Subodh Gupta, Sumedh Rajendran, Vicky Roy, Vivan Sundaram, Alok Som, Probir Gupta and Vibha Galhotra, will participate with their works alongside the works of these children.

“Education should give one the ability to choose between right and wrong and between truth and untruth in life.”

The rather gender insensitive 19th century saw Savitribai igniting a spark that led to a people's movement for equal opportunity for education in India. She raised her voice against the discriminatory boundaries imposed on women and the marginalized. On this Women's Day, this intense seminar focuses on the question of choice. It illustrates through the examples of the stories of a few women leaders, how emancipation is a marker of one's freedom and ability to make one's own choices.
