Event Description : THEATRE : Advait Media Productions presents Manav Kaul's "Chuhal" Hindi Play.

Their last production was Rajat Kapoor's What's Done Is Done, and are now featuring Manav Kaul's Chuhal.
It heralds Manav's return to the theatrical world after a gap of 10 years. His last play was Peele Scooter Waala Aadmi. Counted as one of India's most renowned playwrights today, his earlier works include Shakkar Ke Paanch Daane and Colour Blind.

Chuhal premiered in Mumbai at the Prithvi Theatre festival this November and received rave reviews in the Bombay press.

Synopsis :

A light, romantic comedy between a free-thinking woman and an ordinary man bound by the shackles of his own conditioning.
Set in a village with a modern mindset, Sudhir is a schoolteacher and an eligible bachelor doing the rounds of provincial homes, looking for a bride. One such prospect, Aarti, turns him down quite firmly, but with warmth and empathy. What follows is a series of conversations as Sudhir pursues the elusive Aarti and a love story over a light hearted exchange of thoughts, gets scripted...
A play about a man whose conditioned to believe that the natural culmination of a romantic engagement is marriage; and how that man eventually goes onto realize and appreciate the perspective of a new age woman. This is a woman who finds her completeness in love as a journey, and not marriage as the pre-conceived destination.
Set in circa 1994, when the actor-director experienced his own first relationship. Is the play a narration of Kaul’s own story? Come and see for yourself.
Chuhal sees Kaul’s return to stage after 10 years. He was last seen in Peele Scooter Wala Aadmi.

Cast : Manav Kaul, Sugandha Garg, Padma Damodaran, Srishti Srivastava, Kailash Kumar, Atul Rastogi

About the Organization : Having launched with a successful showcasing of Rajat Kapoor’s critically acclaimed What’s Done Is Done, featuring Vinay Pathak & Ranvir Shorey, Advait Media Productions now presents their second premiere show in Delhi in Chuhal. An upcoming venture, Advait Media Productions comes with a promise of bringing the best in content from across India to Delhi-NCR. Stemming from the belief that both content oriented theatre and audiences with refined sensibilities are factions that need to be mobilized in a manner that both complement each other; they also work to make Theatre commercially viable ‘from within’.
Advait Media Productions attempts to take the challenges of the Theatre industry head on, at the same time tweaking the platform in a manner that it is used as a tool to divert attention to the genuine concerns and communities working in the Social Development Sector that have either not been recognized or who, known to few, continue to rough it out in the lesser know realms.

Alongwith presenting thought provoking, carefully selected content for stage, Advait Media Productions endeavours to touch a chord in the hearts of the audience through innovative means and streamline them towards thinking of these communities and what they as individuals can do in terms of offering support.
