MUSIC "Pathway to Peace" Gunijan Sabha – Verse 16 by Vidushi Padmini Rao.

Ms. Shabana Dagar, President of Ustad Imamuddin Khan Dagar Indian Music Art & Culture Society and The Dagar Archives presents Gunijan Sabha Verse 16 – “Pathway to Peace”. A performance of and interaction with Vi. Padmini Rao, of Kirana Gharana.

Thru interaction, we will understand the deeper aspects of her music and inner cores of her personality.

The event will be moderated by Prof. Manjula Saxena, ex Professor, Delhi University. She is a researcher on Asthetics in Music and Art.

About the Artist : Vidushi Padmini Rao is a student of Vidushi Prabha Atre of Kirana Gharana, with whom she has been associated for over 34 years. Padmini Ji learnt Sitar for 6 years and then reverted to the vocal form, undergoing 11 years of rigorous training in voice culture under the guidance of the late Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Khan Dagar, the renowned Scholar, Dhrupad and Rudra Veena Maestro.  

With her forte being pure classical music, Padmini remains equally at home in the light-classical forms including thumris and bhajans. She combines her love of the performing art with its academic aspects. 

She has travelled and performed extensively in various parts of the world including Asia, Europe and the USA. She has performed to packed audiences at prestigious venues all over India such as The Nehru Centre-Mumbai, The National Center for Performing Arts NCPA-Mumbai, Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav-Kundgol, Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, India Habitat Centre-Delhi

Her performances have received rave reviews at several international venues including in the Netherlands, United Kingdon, the United States of America, New Zealand, Singapore, France, Germany, Australia. and the Middle East. She has performed at prestigious Ivy League Universities like MIT Boston- MITHAS, University of Pennsylvania-South Asia Centre ; The Asia society in New York, Saraswat Samelans and Foundations at Los Angeles & Toronto, at the Maison de L’Inde at Paris, Tansen Music Festival in Bahrain to name only a few.

About the Organization:  Scion of the Dagar Gharana, Shree Alimuddin khan Dagar Sahab founded “Ustad Imamuddin khan Dagar Indian Music Art & Culture Society” in 1978. Since then this society is working for enhancement of music, art & culture. Ms. Shabana Dagar and her brother Mr. Imran Dagar are governing the society activities for last 14 years. They belong to the 20th Generation of the Dagar Family. They are the grand children of late Vidwan Ustad Imamuddin Khan Dagar, exponent of Dagarvani Dhrupad Gharana.

Under the auspices of the society, in year 2009, Shabana Ji and Imran Ji established “The Dagar Archives”. This is the first archive of Dagar Family. It is located on 2nd floor of Ravindra Manch. The archives presents the history of Dagars and hosts rare recordings, rare pictures, Artifacts and many more rarities associated with Dagar family.

The society also supports research work. Two students have completed their PhD research work in music under the auspices of the Society and the Dagar Archives.


The society conducts cultural events and Classical music concerts in Jaipur, Delhi and other cities. In Delhi so far, the society has conducted 10 verses of Gunijan Sabha, which focuses on performance and dialogue with artists from different art fields.
