Event Description : TALK "Soda Politics: The Language of Sugar and Fizz" as part of the 6th Indian Languages Festival

As part of its third ‘No Tongues Barred’ (#ntb) conversation, the 6th edition of the annual IHC Indian Languages festival is organizing a conversation on Soda Politics: The Language of Sugar and Fizz.

Spurred by the release of Marion Nestle’s Soda Politics: Taking on Big Soda (and Winning), this #ntb conversation will focus on the history, politics, nutrition, and health impact of soda, asking how we created this system and what we can do to change things. The forum led by director general of the Centre for Science and Environment Sunita Narain, critic Sourish Bhattacharya and veteran journalist Satya Sivaraman will discuss the ‘aspirational’ language of soft drinks and ask if limiting the consumption of sugary drinks is the way to go.

About ILF Samanvay:
ILF Samanvay, initiated by the India Habitat Centre, is a one-of-its-kind Indian Languages Festival held annually in New Delhi. The first Samanvay was conceived in 2011 as an annual celebration of writing in Indian languages. The festival has aimed at generating dialogue across Indian languages at various levels and has emerged as the only literature festival dedicated exclusively to Indian languages.
