Event Description : ​AAMAD Dance Centre Presents "Jashn" a two day seminar on the Innovations & Contributions of Hazrat Amir Khusrau & Nawab Wajid Ali Shah in North Indian Culture & Performing arts. There will be a visual portrayal of the 11th - 19th century’s Persian miniature paintings & manuscripts and various facets of Aamir Khusrau & Wajid Ali Shah from the museums & Libraries. This Seminar will give an opportunity for research Scholar and Artist to know the tradition from 11th century.

The event will witness the mixture of art and culture of India and Persia, relying on the concept of ‘Ganga – Jamuni Tahjeeb’. The event is been organized by AAMAD Dance Center to showcase the Innovations & Contributions of Hazrat Amir Khusrau & Nawab Wajid Ali Shah in North Indian Culture & Performing arts with the projection of visual portrayal of the 11th - 19th century’s Persian miniature paintings & manuscripts and various facets of Aamir Khusrau & Wajid Ali Shah from the museums & libraries.
The seminar is being conducted to interact with the audience and talk about the diminishing relevance of these art and cultural heritage. Indo Persian cultural history has been discussed much in the books. In order to keep it lively among the upcoming generation, it is important for new talents and performers to learn about the Indo Persian art and culture.
Amir Khusrau’s royal association as a prolific classical poet with more than seven rulers of the Delhi Sultanate and Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh, gifted brilliance and committed ethical way of living, both have had pervading effect on the arts, music, dance, the language, architecture and other manifestations of culture of that period.
The seminar is just a step to educate and influence fresh art learners about the history, heritage and its influence in the society.
THE NEED
Though, many studies have been done on Indian, Islamic and Persian’s history however he Indo Persian synthesis has not been study deeply.Aamir Khusrau’s royal association as a prolific classical poet with more than seven rulers of the Delhi Sultanate and Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh, gifted brilliance and committed ethical way of living, both have had pervading effect on the arts, music, dance, the language, architecture and other manifestations of culture of that period.
They form parts of our rich and imported heritage, which tell us of our past and of what we are made of in the present. They need to be honoured and preserved for the generations to come - not just for us, but for the entire world. Hence, it is desirable to do in depth research focusing on the living traditional culture of Indo Persian culture along with the deep studies on Persian & Urdu manuscripts and various miniature paintings of 11th - 19th century related to Indo Persian performing arts.

About AAMAD Dance Centre : AAMAD is a non-profit organization established in the year 1996 to promote performing arts among the youth and is recognized by the Department of Culture, Government of India. AAMAD works in cooperation with Kathak Kendra-National Institute of Kathak Dance and empanelled underIndian Council for Cultural Relations. AAMAD has two training centers in the Eastern part of Delhi imparting training in classical dance & music for talented students for all strata of the society. AAMAD Kathak Dance Center was founded by Rani Khanam who is one of the India’s foremost exponents of Kathak. About Rani Khanam : Rani Khanam is the founder of AAMAD Dance Centre, and is one of the most senior choreographer Guru and Kathak dancer of India today. She has received many National & International Awards & accolades for her outstanding, innovative and tradition work in the field of classical dance and for creating bridges in between missing links in performing arts with social issues of the society to be taken into consideration. Her dancing style reflects a deep comprehension of the dance tradition which has set new dimensions and source of inspirations to younger generation. Rani Khanam performs on unique repertoire of Sufiana poetry and Islamic verses. Rani Khanam is an empanelled artist in “Outstanding category” of the Indian Council for Culture Relations and “Top graded” artiste at the Delhi Doordarshan.
